8 Must-Haves For Your DJ

When you’re considering who will DJ your wedding, what tops your list of non-negotiables? As someone who has been DJing weddings for 15+ years, I’ve developed my own set of criteria that I feel every entertainer should possess. What clients quickly shared with me from their experiences interviewing others is that my list of must-haves varies drastically. Finding a DJ that aligns with your wants and needs is crucial. Not everyone is going to be looking for the same things or value music the same way. And that’s okay. To me, these are my eight must-haves in a DJ…

  • Prepares like you would not believe - Hundreds of hours go into planning calls, getting to know each couple, coordinating with other vendors, researching what the radio stations in your area play, compiling potential music to play, downloading anything I don’t already have in my library and practicing new ways to mix in and out of songs

  • Understands your vision, unique tastes and someone you have full trust in to deliver an unforgettable experience

  • Provides state-of-the-art equipment that sounds amazing AND has a sleek appearance (bulky speakers are a huge pet peeve of mine)

  • Dresses stylishly and looks professional

  • Knows exactly what music to play and seamlessly transitions between songs

  • Arrives early to ensure plenty of time for setup and sound check

  • Has back ups of all of their equipment

  • Plays the saxophone
